You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. Philippians 4:13
My training as a counselor was obtained through Spring Arbor University. I received my Bachelor’s degree Eastern Michigan University and my Masters in Professional and School Counseling from Spring Arbor University in 2008. I served in the role as a School Guidance Counselor for 10 years in both elementary and highschool settings. This role allowed me to work with students doing individual and small group counseling, contributing in IEP meetings, served as the testing coordinator for state testing initiatives and also was the District Homeless Liaison and Link Crew Coordinator (A mentoring program for freshmen.)
I enjoyed this role very much but was feeling led to move into a more clinical setting. I worked for a group practice for two years and developed and grew immensely as a professional counselor. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor(License number: 6401011189) for the State of Michigan. I am also a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (License number: E2001876) for the State of Ohio.
I am a Gottman trained marriage counseling therapist (Level 1 and Level 2.) I have also completed training in Prepare/Enrich premarital and marital inventory. I am a member of the American Counseling Association and the American Association of Christian Counselors and the Michigan Mental Health Counseling Association. I am an Approved Clinical Supervisor for Limited Licensed Professional Counselors who are seeking postgraduate supervision. I regularly attend seminars and workshops to further my clinical resources and skills.
One of my greatest passions is marriage counseling. Marriage is hard and it’s easy to get into a place where you feel “stuck.” Having the opportunity to guide couples who are hurting in their marriage has been challenging but very rewarding. The Gottman Method is an evidenced- based form of therapy. An assessment is taken by both partners that will reveal strengths and weaknesses within their marriage. Short term goals are developed and tools are provided and demonstrated to repair and enhance broken relationships.
Working with women of various ages is also a passion of mine. Some of the issues I have addressed with clients are but not limited to, anxiety, depression, grief, dysfunction with family members, parenting concerns, career decisions and life transitions in general.
I love My Lord and Savior and give Him all the praise and glory for the development of Segues Christian Counseling. As humans, we each have our own set of unique gifts and talents. Every person is deserving of love, kindness and forgiveness. Depending on where you are in life or what you may be facing, God loves you and so do I. God is the ultimate source for healing and wholeness and has given me this opportunity to share His love with you. When you walk through my doors, It is my hope that you will feel a sense of peace and acceptance. While I am open about my relationship with my Heavenly Father, my goal is not to force my beliefs onto you. I will meet you where you are on your spiritual journey and if you want prayer or scripture references incorporated into your therapy, I will be happy to do so. However, If you are not comfortable with that, that’s okay too. We will talk about this further at your first session.
